Greetings from beautiful Easton! The chill in the air means colorful leaves are not far off, and indeed, I have begun to see the first signs of color as I drive through town.
New to our collection this week is part of a Brockton Enterprise newspaper dated July 20, 1922. Melanie Horris, formerly of Pleasant Street, sent it our way. It features news from North Easton regarding some community activities. It is included for you below. A few weeks ago we did a tour of "Swedeville" which is the area around Williams Street, Jenny Lind Street, Reynolds Avenue, and Seaver Street. The news article included here reminds me that a fair number of Swedish people also lived in the area around Linden Street, Holmes Street, Pleasant Street, which could be "Swedeville" in its own right. As you read the story of a very generous gift given to someone from the Linden Street area, you will see a lot of familiar Swedish families mentioned.
Have a great week!
