Fall at the Easton Historical Society

October 20, 2016

Greetings fellow history lovers,

fall is a beautiful season in New England!  There is a wonderful sugar maple tree in front of our building that is all ablaze in oranges, yellows, and tinges of green.  The late Dan Amorim planted this tree back in the late 1960's or early 1970's.  Attached is a photo for you so that those who miss the fall colors might get a taste of home.

On Sunday at 2:00 p.m., please join us at beautiful Stonehill College for a special program.  Frederick Lothrop Ames will speak about the prior three Frederick Lothrop Ameses who did much to influence Easton, the cattle industry, and the early aviation industry.  We will meet in the dining room of the former home of the second Frederick, Donahue Hall (the Stonehill College administration building).  Once known as Stone House Hill House, this stately Georgian mansion will serve as a wonderful setting for this program.  Light refreshments will be served.  While there, enjoy the beautiful Stonehill campus!  We express our thanks to Frederick Ames for providing the program and to Stonehill College for hosting us.

To get to Donahue Hall:  from Route 138, turn into the Stonehill College campus.  Follow the road past the tennis courts to the stop sign.  Turn left at the stop sign, and follow the road up the hill to the front of the mansion.  There is plenty of parking available right in front of the main entrance.

A very generous donor sent the Historical Society a certified Citizens Bank check with

no indication from whom it was sent.  The Society would like to acknowledge this

gift.  If you are that person, please contact Hazel Varella (508-238-3614) or

mdhvarella@comcast.net.   Thank you!
