EHS in the Community
Hello members! It is a dark, rainy day here in Easton, but that doesn't dampen our spirits for supporting others in the Easton community.
On Friday, November 18th, the Friends of Frothingham Hall will host a Fall Vendor Fair from 1-5 p.m. at Frothingham Hall. The Hall is the former Anna C. Ames Gymnasium on Barrows Street, across from the original 1895 Oliver Ames High School. The Fair will feature a number of crafters, artists, and other vendors. The Society will be there as well with a table selling the new Historic Easton Puzzle, Mary Bodio notecards, and pewter ornaments featuring our Museum. This event is free and open to the public, and Frothingham Hall is handicap accessible. My Brother's Keeper, located near Stonehill College in South Easton, sponsors a toy drive each year. We will have a collection bin in the Museum during the month of December, and will be collecting new toys for boys and girls. My Brother's Keeper serves many needy families in the South Coast region all year long, and the needs are great during the holiday season. If you are able to pick up an extra gift for a young person or teen, it would be much appreciated by the lucky child that receives it. You can check out My Brother's Keeper at their website: www.mybrotherskeeper.org for more information. Finally, a little food for thought... The Chicago Cubs (and a few former Red Sox players) just won their first World Series since 1908, a span of 108 years. Former Oliver Ames High School teacher and Business Department Head Veronica Carter has been around for both of them! She was born in early 1908 and was a little less than a year old when the Cubbies won the Series then, and today, at age 108 has seen the end of the longest "curse" in professional sports! Wishing you a great week, Frank
