Weekly Update

Hello from a very wet Easton! The update is a bit early this week because I want to bring to mind two events:

First, a bit of a mystery! This week, several people have been leaving bags of nickels at our door! Well, not exactly nickels, but bottles and cans. Saturday is our fall bottle and can drive at the Museum from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. rain or shine! Held in memory of Ken Martin, who ran this important fundraiser for many years, all Massachusetts returnable bottles and cans are accepted. We are unable to accept water bottles or other recyclables, only those with a Massachusetts deposit. All of those nickel deposits really add up! I hope to see you Saturday. And don't forget to check out Mary Bodio Easton prints that are available for purchase! Second, on Thursday night, September 20, we hope you will join us for a special concert! "It's A Long Way To Tipperary" will be presented at the Oakes Ames Memorial Hall at 7 p.m. Performed by the Canton American Legion Community Band, the concert will feature songs popular around the World War I Armistice, as well as music by composers who served in the war. Slides and commentary will enlighten us about the composers and the importance of the songs. This event is sponsored by the Easton Historical Society and Museum, and Easton Grange #196. Join us as we remember the 100 year anniversary of the end of the "war to end all wars." Stay dry, and have a great weekend! Frank
