Weekly Update

Hello from a wonderfully sunny Easton! I was at work late yesterday, and all was quiet, until a number of cars, busses, and limo's began pulling in! The cause of the commotion was a really nice event, the Oliver Ames High School Junior Prom. The attendees, looking beautiful and handsome in their gowns and tuxes, were going to the Governor Ames Estate for photos. It was a nice sight to see!

We have been pretty busy this week. On Friday we hosted the annual visit of the Victorian Society, a summer school program for architects directed by Professor Richard Gut Wilson of the University of Virginia. Today, we are hosting a local Civil War Roundtable group with an exhibit and tour.

And tomorrow, Sunday, we have our open house from 1-5 p.m. Please make us a part of your day, see our Civil War exhibit, and pick up a copy of the new book A Beautiful Image of Historic Easton, by Jon Coe and Buddy Wooster! I hope to see you!

And something of interest to our members from the good people at the Ames Free Library - a special event in the garden! Marion Wingfield, Development Director at the Library, offers the following:

"I hope you, along with friends and family (over 21 of course), can attend our upcoming fundraiser, Twilight in the Garden, on Saturday, June 22, 2019. It should be a beautiful evening, during which we'll have festooned Queset Garden with lights and stunning floral arrangements; we'll offer a great cocktail bar (if last year is any measure), enjoy a summer (French) wine tasting with sommelier Tina Kanter, enjoy catered hors d'oeuvres, and listen to a jazz trio, all as we watch daylight fade and garden lights grow brighter on the longest day of the year. Please join us for this first day of summer at the beautiful Queset Garden, and spread the word!"

A poster for the event is attached.

Have a great summer week!
