Weekly Update

June 14, 2019

Greetings, and a very happy Father's Day to our members!  Perhaps you are a father, father-to-be, father-in-law, grandfather, or father figure to someone, or one who is missing your father this weekend.  Let us do our best to honor and remember those who are, or who were, those special people to us.

Looking for a great Father's Day gift?  We have a number of items including copies of the new book A Beautiful Image of Historic Easton.  The Museum will be open Saturday morning until about noon, so stop in and see what we have to offer for dad!

Please join me in congratulating Easton's American Legion Post 7, and the American Legion, on their 100th anniversary!  Easton's Post 7 is one of the earliest Posts, established very soon after the American Legion itself was founded.  Louis Frothingham, who served in two wars, was instrumental in the founding of the Post.  The Post will celebrate with an open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the VFW Hall, 148 Allen Road (intersection of Rockland Street and Allen Road.)  There will be an historical display of memorabilia from Easton's World War I veterans as well as other military memorabilia, handouts on the Legion and soldiers, and a number of organizations will be present that offer help and services to veterans and their families.  This is for all military veterans from all branches of the Armed Forces, and open to the public.  Take a few moments from your busy Saturday to stop by and honor our veterans.  Food donations for the Easton Food Pantry are being accepted in memory of Mary Jane Wood.

Lastly, my errant fingers caused a typo in last week's update.  The correct name of the professor who led the recent Victorian Society visit is Richard Guy Wilson.  Apologies to our distinguished professor!

Have a great week,

Frank
