Hello from a chilly Easton! We managed to miss the brunt of Hurricane Dorian, with light winds and a little rain. We continue to keep in mind all those who fared much worse. The news coming out of the areas hid hardest by this historic storm is heartbreaking.
Tomorrow, Sunday the 8th of September, we welcome you to our Open House from 1-5 p.m. Just in time for back to school, our guest will be Janice Narsasian, who recently retired after 24 years in the Easton School System as a kindergarten teacher. She taught at Moreau Hall for many years, and then at Center School. At 2 p.m. she will discuss her career and the extraordinary changes in teaching kindergarten during her career. It's not the same kindergarten you or I remember!
Today we welcome members of the Oliver Ames High School Class of 1969 for a visit as part of their 50th Reunion Weekend. It is always special to welcome reunions here and get caught up with so many wonderful people. I always look forward to these events.
Our semi-annual Ken Martin Memorial Bottle and Can Drive will be held next Saturday, September 14th, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Museum. All Massachusetts returnable bottles and cans are welcome, and we appreciate your support for this important fund raiser. For pickup, call me at 508-238-7774.
Some of you may know that I am vocally challenged. But for those who can carry a tune, please see the announcement from the Old Stoughton Musical Society which is attached. They are beginning auditions for coming events. They are the oldest musical society in America and their great tradition continues. Like to sing? Check them out!
I hope to see you Sunday, and have a great week!
