Weekly Update

October 4, 2019

Happy fall! It sure feels a lot like fall today. After a few weeks of above average temperatures, a chilly wind now pervades the area, and we may even get our first frost tonight. As much as I dread having to get my windshield scraper ready, at least the frost will begin eliminating the mosquitos that have caused so much trouble this year.

Many of you have been asking about the new "Reminiscences" and I am happy to report that we will have news for you next week, so stay tuned!

I have received a few advertisements recently with offers to get my truck ready for winter.  I have included this week a few ads from 1932 that you might like.  Two are from Ladd's Service Station which you might remember was at Daley's Corner (Washington Street and Main Street, across from Hilliard's).  The third ad is from a smaller repair garage, Soule's, and was located on Elm Street near the intersection of Elm and Washington Streets (later Nolan's Garage in the 1940's), or on Elm Street near Pleasant Street, where a small repair shop stood for some years in the early 20th century.  If you know for certain which location Soule's was at, please let me know!

Enjoy the fall air, have some fresh cider, and some apple cider donuts too!
